Executive Director's Biography

Peggy Miller was named Executive Director of BMOW in March of 2006 after 20 years of service to the agency. She succeeds long-time CEO, John Pudwell.

Born in Worcester, MA. Miller attended Temple University in Philadelphia before moving to South Florida in 1982 to complete her degree at Barry University. She received her Bachelors degree in the field of social work, and went on to earn an MSW while specializing in administration. She joined BMOW in 1986 and quickly developed as a leader. Her innovative ideas and wisdom directly contributed to the continued success BMOW enjoys today.

Highlights:

  • Increased automation by the use of technology. This allowed BMOW to be recognized as a leader in an industry that is generally last on the technology curve.
  • Streamlined internal procedures to increase efficiency and productivity, which led to the agency's ability to operate at 4% general administrative cost. The agency maintains this proud accomplishment today.
  • Led effort to become the first agency in the state of Florida and the 11 th nationally to obtain the MOWAA National Nutrition Site Certification in 1999.
  • Established student internship programs for aspiring social workers from 4 local universities.

As the organization continues in its efforts to increase community impact and awareness, Miller is at the forefront and leads by example. Her leadership goes beyond BMOW's walls and into the community. In recent months, Miller has been re-appointed to the Governing Board for Meals on Wheels Association of America, as well as to the MOWAA Foundation Board. She is also an appointee to the Leader's Lab Futuring Forum, a part of MOWAA's National Center for Nutrition Leadership. In these capacities, she serves alongside leaders from across the country.

She has also been selected to serve in Leadership Broward's class XXV. While working with some of South Florida 's brightest community and business leaders, she is able to expand her focus on community issues.

Prior to joining BMOW, Miller held a variety of positions at several home health agencies, Catholic Community Services, and the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Broward County.

Peggy Miller enjoys boating and resides in Hollywood , FL with her husband and daughter; Edward and Lexi.
